In recent years, various methods have been used to increase productivity in agricultural production due to both the increase in the world population and the intense continuation of consumption habits. Weeds can significantly reduce productivity. That's why their struggle is important. They cause significant losses by reducing the quality and yield of agricultural products. It has been observed that chemical control has increased considerably in recent years in order to suppress weeds. The study was organized as a survey with 30 questions directed to 56 personnel to determine the perspectives and approaches of the technical staff of the Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry in Mardin province to the weed problem. It was determined that the education level of the personnel working in the Mardin Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry was undergraduate and graduate, and that the most common problems encountered by the directorate of agriculture in the province were insects, nematodes, viruses and weeds. Do you know weeds? Most people answered yes to the question. It was determined that weeds were a problem in 85,7% of the field areas, and the problem weeds were mostly narrow-leaved. The most common weeds in Mardin province and its borders are 19,8% wild mustard (Sinapis arvensis L.), 12,5% hogweed (Xanthium strumarium L.), 17,8% wild oats (Avena sterilis L.), 14,2%. It is a red fox tail. (Amaranthus retroflexus L.). In addition, it was determined that when technical personnel had problems with weeds, they first consulted the knowledge of experienced personnel. Participants stated that farmers do not purchase herbicides by prescription. It has been determined that the most frequently used method of weed control is chemical control. With this study conducted in Mardin, it has been shown that the technical personnel working in the Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry have knowledge and experience about weeds, that their knowledge about herbicides and weed diagnosis should be revised, and that they will be more useful to producers with the training, thus preventing unnecessary use of drugs in weed control. It is thought that it will be passed.
