dc.description.abstractWhen we study Classical Turkish Poetry, we see that poets may experience some difficulties while they are trying to adapt Turkish into Arabic prosody, therefore they apply some savings like changing the structure of words. Such kinds of applications are closely interested with both science of Fesâhat and Prosody. Because one of the rules of Fesâhat is being compatible with grammar rules which means the structure of words that make up poem should be correct in terms of grammar. In this regard, poems not being evaluated in terms of Rhetoric, which is the first rule of Fesâhat, will probably cause inefficiency in the study of relation between poem and rhythm. On the other hand, when we consider poet’s applications related with prosody, it is obvious that some concepts like zihâf, imâle, med, tahfîf, kasr and haplology are not enough to evaluate relation between poem and rhythm. In our study, we scan some important works of rhetoric written in Anatolia Region, by starting from the famous books named Miftâhu’l-Ulûm and Telhîsü’l-Miftâh which form the basis of Ottoman rhetoric. Thus, we have tried to reveal some approaches of rhetoricians towards Arabic prosody savings. And also, apart from rhythm’s concepts above, we encountered with many new terms which were used in rhetoric books of Tanzimat Era. We consider that while studying poem-rhythm relation, usage of those new terms will be extremely useful in subsequent researches.en_US
