| dc.description.abstract | This study was carried out to find out the hosts, distribution, damage status and some biological properties of Osphranteria coerulescens Redtenbacher, 1850 (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) that causes serious damage on various fruit trees in recent years in Diyarbakır, Mardin and Sanlıurfa provinces in 2002-2003. Studies to determine the hosts, distribution and damage status were carried out in montly intervals during vegetation period, and beating, visual examination of twigs and food trap methods were used for samplings and observations. Some biological properties of the pest were determined in two infested orchards in Central district of Diyarbakır province by weekly intervals except critical periods in which observations were carried out 2-3 times a week.As a result, O. coerulescens was determined being harmful on cherry, apricot, peach, plum, apple, pear, quince, almond, pistachio and fig trees in Diyarbakır (Central, Bismil, Cınar, Kulp and Silvan districts), Mardin (Central, Derik, Mazıdag and Yesilli districts) and Sanlıurfa (Central, Hilvan and Siverek districts) provinces. It was observed that the pest overwinters at the last larval stage in tunnels at the shoots and branches of trees and became pupa at the end of May and first week of June. Adult emergence has started in early june and has continued until late june. It has one generation in a year under ecological condition of South East Anatolian region.
