Isolation and Antimicrobial Susceptibility of Some Bacteria from The Gut of Honey Bees in Siirt Province of Türkiye

dc.description.abstractIn this study, the presence of some aerobic bacteria were investigated from the gut samples of honey bees collected from the Siirt province of Türkiye. The bacteria was isolated by conventional bacteriological methods and identified by the bacteria identification test kit. The antimicrobial susceptibility of the isolates was determined by the disc diffusion method. The most isolated bacteria species in the research were Staphylococcus spp. and Klebsiella spp., followed by Bacillus spp. Extended spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) and plasmid-mediated AmpC resistance were determined in 6 (50%) of 12 Gram-negative bacteria. Additionally, imipenem resistance was high in Enterobacteria- ceae isolates. On the other hand, almost all Staphylococcus spp. isolates were susceptible to antimicrobials used in the study. It was thought that the data obtained from this study would contribute to research on honey bee health.
