Özet
Bu araştırmanın amacı öğretmenlerin duygusal zekâ ve yaşam doyum düzeyleri arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden ilişkisel tarama modelinde tasarlanan çalışma, 2019-2020 eğitim öğretim güz döneminde, Siirt ilinde devlet okullarında farklı tür ve kademelerde görev yapan 457 öğretmen üzerinde yürütülmüştür. Öğretmenlerin duygusal zekâ düzeylerini belirlemek için Bar-On Duygusal Zekâ Ölçeği, yaşam doyum düzeylerini belirlemek için Yaşam Doyumu Ölçeği, demografik veriler için ise Kişisel Bilgi Formu kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde tanımlayıcı istatistikler, t-testi, tek yönlü varyans analizi, korelasyon analizi ve regresyon analizinden yararlanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda cinsiyet ve doğum yeri değişkenlerine göre öğretmenlerin duygusal zekâlarının; kadın öğretmenler ve il dışından gelen öğretmenler lehine anlamlı bir şekilde yüksek olduğu bulunmuştur. Yaşam doyum düzeyleri ise kadın öğretmenler, il dışından gelenler ve okul öncesi kademesinde görev yapanlarda anlamlı olacak şekilde yüksek çıkmıştır. Öğretmenlerin genel duygusal zekâları; öz kontrol, duygusallık alt faktörlerinde orta düzeyde, iyi oluş ve sosyallik alt faktörlerinde ise yüksek düzeydedir. Yaşam doyumlarının ise yüksek düzeyde olduğu belirlenmiştir. Korelasyon analizi sonucuna göre duygusal zekâ ile yaşam doyumu arasında pozitif yönde düşük seviyede bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Ayrıca iyi oluş alt faktörü ile yaşam doyumu arasında orta seviyede, öz kontrol ve sosyallik alt faktörleri ile yaşam doyumları arasında ise düşük seviyede bir ilişki olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Yapılan regresyon analiz sonucunda, öğretmenlerin duygusal zekâ düzeylerinin yaşam doyumları üzerinde anlamlı bir etkisinin olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Genel olarak öğretmenlerin duygusal zekâ düzeylerinin, yaşam doyumlarına ilişkin varyansın %10'nu açıkladığı belirlenmiştir. Anahtar Kelimeler: Duygusal zekâ, öğretmen, yaşam doyumu.
The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between teachers' emotional intelligence and life satisfaction levels. The study, designed in the relational scanning model, one of the quantitative research methods, was conducted on 457 teachers working in different types and levels in public schools in Siirt province in the 2019-2020 academic fall semester. Bar-On Emotional Intelligence Scale was used to determine teachers' emotional intelligence levels, Life Satisfaction Scale was used to determine their life satisfaction levels, and Personal Information Form was used for demographic data. Descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way analysis of variance, correlation analysis, and regression analaysis were used to analyze the data. As a result of the research, teachers' emotional intelligence according to gender and country variables; It was found to be significantly higher in favor of female teachers and teachers from outside the province. Life satisfaction levels were significantly higher among female teachers, those coming from outside the province, and those working at the pre-school level. General emotional intelligence of teachers; It is at a medium level in self-control and emotionality sub-factors, and at a high level in well-being and sociability sub-factors. It was determined that their life satisfaction was at a high level. According to the correlation analysis results, a low level positive relationship was found between emotional intelligence and life satisfaction. In addition, it was concluded that there was a medium level relationship between the well-being sub-factor and life satisfaction, and a low level relationship between the self-control and sociability sub-factors and life satisfaction. As a result of the regression analysis, it was determined that teachers' emotional intelligence levels had a significant effect on their life satisfaction. In general, it was concluded that teachers' emotional intelligence levels explained 10% of the variance in their life satisfaction. Key Words: Emotional intelligence, teacher, life satisfaction.
