Öğe Identification of women's breast cancer prevention behaviors and the associated factors: The case of the southeastern Anatolia Region(Taylor & Francis Inc, 2024) Gul, Sidar; Buyukbayram, ZelihaIn this study, the researchers investigated the factors that affect women's breast cancer prevention behaviors. The sample of this cross-sectional and descriptive study consisted of 406 participants aged 20 and older. The study was conducted in February-March 2021 within the administrative borders of a province located in the Southeastern Anatolia Region of Turkey. The data were collected via an online platform using Personal Information Form and the Scale of Factors Affecting Women's Breast Cancer Prevention Behaviors. The mean Scale of Factors Affecting Women's Breast Cancer Prevention Behaviors score of the participants was moderate as 107.20 +/- 17.86. The frequency of breast cancer prevention behaviors was found to be lower in the participants with low literacy, those who were unemployed, those with low income, those living in villages and those who did not perform breast self-examination (p < 0.05). It is recommended to plan educational studies on breast cancer screening behaviors by considering regional differences.Öğe Men at the focus of gender motivation and triggering factors in violence tendencies in Turkey(Wiley, 2022) Gul, SidarPurpose The present study was conducted to examine the relationship between men's gender motivation and violence tendencies. Design and Methods The sample of this descriptive study consisted of 450 male participants. The data were collected using a descriptive questionnaire, Gender Motivation Scale and Violence Tendency Scale. Findings It was found that there was a negative and moderate correlation between feminine norms with intrinsic motivation and violence tendency scores (p < 0.05). A positive and moderate correlation was found between masculine norms with extrinsic motivation and violence tendency scores (p < 0.05). Practice Implatications Effective therapeutic strategy activities involving men with dominant masculine norms as a special group should be given priority to improve gender motivation and violence tendency outcomes.Öğe Negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on health workers: a cross-sectional study on emotional labor and burnout(Kare Publ, 2022) Buyukbayram, Zeliha; Gul, SidarObjectives: This research aimed to examine the relationship between emotional labor and burnout levels of health-care workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: It was aimed to examine healthcare workers' emotional labor and burnout levels during the COVID-19 pan-demic in this cross-sectional descriptive and relationship-seeking study. Data were obtained from 315 healthcare work-ers who worked at a hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic between February 1 and 26, 2021, using a Descriptive Information Form, the Emotional Labor Inventory, and Maslach Burnout Inventory. The data collection tools were sent online to health workers. The data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, One-Way Variance (ANOVA), Kruskal-Wallis tests, and Pearson analysis. Results: The mean scores of the participants' total Emotional Labor Inventory, surface acting, deep-acting, and natu-rally felt emotions subdimensions were 39.18 +/- 6.79, 15.71 +/- 5.21, 12.58 +/- 3.58, and 10.88 +/- 2.62, respectively. The mean scores of the participants' total Maslach Burnout Inventory, emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal accomplishment subdimensions were 40.61 +/- 10.95, 20.68 +/- 7.23, 7.56 +/- 3.73, and 12.36 +/- 4.66, respectively. It was found that there was a positive significant relationship between the participants' total emotional labor and burnout point av-erages (p<0.05). The analysis showed that in the COVID-19 pandemic, emotional labor behavior increases in healthcare workers, and this leads to burnout. Conclusion: Participants' mean scores of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization from burnout subdimensions were found to be moderate, and their personal accomplishment subdimension mean score was found to be high. Emo-tional labor behavior has a determining role in the burnout of the participants.Öğe The effect of neurolinguistic programming and progressive muscle relaxation exercises on breastfeeding success and breastfeeding self-efficacy: A randomized controlled trial(Elsevier Science Inc, 2024) Kilicli, Aysegul; Gul, SidarIntroduction: This research was to determine the effect of neurolinguistic programming (NLP) and progressive muscle relaxation exercises (PMRE) on breastfeeding success and breastfeeding self-efficacy in primiparous women after cesarean section. Material and methods: This is a single-blind, three-arm, parallel-group, randomized controlled trial. Data were collected between 01 October 2023, and 18 December 2023. The sample of the study consisted of 99 primiparous women who gave birth by cesarean section (NLP=33, PMRE=33, and control=33). Women were randomly assigned to the groups. Starting from the first mobilization time after cesarean section, NLP was applied to the NLP group and PMRE was applied to the PMRE group every eight hours for 48 h. In the control group, NLP or PMRE was not applied and the women were allowed to rest on their backs. The primary outcomes of the study were breastfeeding success and breastfeeding self-efficacy. Results: The mean scores of breastfeeding success and breastfeeding self-efficacy measured over time were highest in the NLP group and lowest in the control group (p<.05). The mean scores of breastfeeding success and breastfeeding self-efficacy measured over time increased by 78.4 %, and 97.7 %, respectively, in the NLP group compared to the control group, 74.7 %, and 88.1 %, in the PMRE group compared to the control group, and 13.5 %, and 90.2 %, respectively, in the NLP group compared to the PMRE group (p<.05). Conclusion: NLP intervention may have a more positive effect on breastfeeding success and breastfeeding self-efficacy than PMRE intervention. Trial and protocol registration: ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT06070792.Öğe The effect of neurolinguistic programming on labor pain, fear, duration and maternal satisfaction: A randomized controlled trial(Elsevier, 2024) Kilicli, Aysegul; Gul, SidarObjectives: Labor pain is one of the most severe pains experienced by women. In the literature, there is no research examining the effect of Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) on birth pain and fear. It was aimed to determine the effect of NLP on labor pain, fear, duration, and maternal satisfaction in both nulliparous, and multiparous pregnant women. Design: This study consists of each with two arms, parallel-group randomized controlled trials, on two different samples for both nulliparous and multiparous women. Data were collected between 3 October 2023-21 January 2024. A total of 124 women (62 nulliparous and 62 multiparous women) who gave birth vaginally constituted the sample of the study. Both nulliparous and multiparous women were randomly assigned to groups. The primary outcomes were labor pain, fear, duration, and satisfaction. When the cervical span was 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8 cm, NLP was applied to the experimental group for 20 min each, the control group rested for 20 min each. Results: According to the measurement times, the mean pain score of the experimental group was lower than the control group. The mean VAS pain score measured over time decreased by 90.3 % in the NLP group compared to the control group for primiparous and 64.5 % compared to the control group for multiparous. In both nulliparous and multiparous, the fear of labor of the NLP group was lower, the duration of labor was shorter, and the satisfaction with labor was higher compared to the control group (p < 0.05). Conclusion: NLP reduces labor pain and fear, shortens the duration of labor, and increases maternal satisfaction in labor.Öğe The effect of web-based genital hygiene education provided to the women with disabilities on their self-care agency and genital hygiene behaviors: A randomized controlled trial(Taylor & Francis Inc, 2023) Gul, Sidar; Yagmur, YurdagulIn this study, we examined the effect of web-based genital hygiene education provided to women with orthopedically disability on self-care agency and genital hygiene behaviors. The research was conducted as a randomized controlled trial. 62 participants in the sample group were randomly assigned. There were statistically significant differences between the pretest, mid-test and post-test total mean scores of Self-Care Scale, Genital Hygiene Behavior Scale and all sub-dimensions in the expiremental group (p < 0.001) and there was not a significant difference in the control group (p > 0.05).
