Öğe AN EXPLORATORY RESEARCH TO REVEAL THE HABITS, MOTIVATIONS, AND TENDENCIES OF GENERATION Z TO USE SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS AS A LEISURE ACTIVITY(Akdeniz Univ, Tourism Fac, 2024) Yagmur, YenalGeneration Z's (Gen -Z) technology -centered lifestyles have resulted in a departure from traditional behavior patterns, particularly in their use of social media platforms (SMPs) for leisure activities. In this regard, an exploratory, qualitative research approach was adopted in the present study, which deeply understands the perceptions and feelings of Gen -Z members' engagement with the SMPs for their leisure pursuits. Inductive content analysis was performed on the data collected from 107 Gen -Z member university students selected using convenience sampling. The perspectives and internal and external motivations of Gen -Z members towards producing content on SMPs are discussed within the scope of social comparison and social presence theories, while their views on whether to perform recreational activities are built on the theoretical foundations of leisure constraints (intrapersonal, interpersonal, and structural) and facilitators. Gen -Z behaviors regarding joining or not joining groups were framed based on social media engagement (behavioral, affective, and cognitive) and leisure constraints. The results obtained will lead to the opening of new discussion areas for the creation of modern marketing strategies for the recreation industry, marketing organizations, and public institutions and organizations.Öğe Destination Image of Antalya from the Perspectives of Tourists Staying in Hospitality Establishments with the Concept of Halal Tourism(Vysoka Skola Obchodni & Praze, 2020) Yagmur, Yenal; Aksu, AkinThe study's primary purpose is to reveal the destination image evaluations of Antalya by the tourists staying with the concept of halal tourism with the proposed model. In this context, the study was designed as survey-based quantitative research and was carried out on 660 tourists selected by a simple random sampling method in 6 hotels in Antalya destination. As a result of the structural equation modelling analyses, it was determined that the cognitive images of the tourists staying in hotels with the concept of halal tourism affected tourist satisfaction positively. In contrast, their effective images did not significantly impact tourist satisfaction, and that their effective images affected intention to recommend positively while their cognitive images influenced it negatively. Besides, it was found that both cognitive and affective image dimensions did not significantly affect intention to revisit. Furthermore, the results of the analyses indicated that cognitive images of the tourists positively affected their affective images and that tourist satisfaction had a positive impact on their intention to recommend and intention to revisit. According to the research results, it was determined that the cognitive image is a key element for the tourists staying in the halal concept to evaluate Antalya's destination. In this regard, it is evident that public policymakers and hotel managers should formulate their policies and strategies, taking into account the results of the research, as well as implementing policies and practices aimed at increasing the affective evaluations of tourists, which are more important than the cognitive evaluations of tourists in Antalya destination. Finally, it is believed that the study will reveal important practical implications in the context of developing policies and strategies for the managers of the hotels with the concept of halal tourism and for local authorities in the destination where these hotels are located by determining the destination image evaluations of tourists and revealing the relationship between destination image, tourist satisfaction and behavioural intentions.Öğe Evaluation of halal tourism in terms of bibliometric characteristics(Emerald Group Publishing Ltd, 2020) Yagmur, Yenal; Ehtiyar, Rueya; Aksu, AkinPurpose The growing competition between the developing halal market and the countries in halal market has enhanced the interest of researchers in this field in recent years. In this context, this study aims to examine the studies published in the international literature on halal tourism between 1975 and 2019 in terms of bibliometric characteristics and to reveal tendencies and trends of these publications within the framework of certain parameters. Design/methodology/approach In accordance with this purpose, the topic of halal tourism was searched in the database of Web of Science Core Collection, and bibliometrics data in regard to the publications were reached. Publications on halal tourism were examined in the context of years, numbers, genres, research fields, fields of study, journals in which they are found, the number of authors and page number of publications, research approaches of publications, themes of publications, country where the research data was collected (examined), names of the authors in the publications and publication numbers of the authors, and the number of citations. Findings In this paper, it was determined that the studies in the field of halal tourism increased in recent years. It was concluded that these studies were mainly carried out after 2011 and showed a large increase in 2016, the majority of the publications were in the form of study-paper and the average number of citations in the field was 3.1, and h-index number was seven. Research limitations/implications This paper is based on bibliometric analysis. Bibliometric analyses were performed on the Web of Science Core Collection. Because of database searches were made only on Web of Science Core Collection, the publications that were not scanned here could not be analyzed. Originality/value This paper examined the studies on halal tourism between 1975 and 2019 with a bibliometric analysis technique. Thus, it is aimed to learn more about halal tourism and to provide the researchers who work in this field with information about the structure of this field.Öğe Top quality hotel managers' perspectives on smart technologies: an exploratory study(Emerald Group Publishing Ltd, 2024) Yagmur, Yenal; Demirel, Altan; Kilic, Guel DamlaPurposeThe main purpose of the study is to reveal the hotel managers' perspectives strategies, and predictions on smart technologies, and their expectations for current staff and potential staff to be employed in the future.Design/methodology/approachA qualitative research approach was used to reveal the internal perspectives of managers to determine their Smart Tourism (ST) perspectives. With the snowball sampling method, face-to-face interviews were conducted with 16 senior hotel managers working in a 5-star hotel in Antalya. The data obtained were carried out with inductive content analysis and descriptive analysis from qualitative research analysis methods.FindingsIn this study, hotel managers' broad perspectives on ST were discussed in depth and presented comprehensively. Managers' perceptions of smart technologies are classified in terms of aggregate dimensions and themes. Among the most important findings, rapidity/quickness, managing/holistic assessment, standardization, harmony/integration-coordination and experience-memory, defined as the crossroads of total dimensions or the heart of smart technologies, were identified as the most important themes. In addition, Stylos et al. (2021), another important finding is the classification of technologies used in top-quality hotels, based on the conceptual framework for smart technologies presented in the literature.Practical implicationsThe effective and efficient use of technology, its internalization and openness to technology provides important advantages in hotels such as increasing revisits and satisfaction, providing loyalty and reducing costs. Thus, the perceptions, practices, strategies and prediction of senior managers working in high-level hotels about ST provide valuable data to other hotels that want to survive in the competition.Originality/valueFrom a theoretical point of view, this study is valuable in that it deals with the ST perceptions of senior managers with an exploratory research approach. Managerially, the research findings offer valuable contribution about the attitudes, trends, forecasts and expectations of senior managers working in high-level hotels towards ST.
