Bu bağlamda ağırlıklı olarak Siirt Gazetesi'nin 1937-1950 yılları arasındaki haberleri referans olarak alınmıştır. Bu haberler kendi içinde sınıflandırılarak Siirt'in siyasi, sosyal ve iktisadi hayatına dair gelişmeler ve değişimler özel başlıklar ile detaylandırılmıştır. Siirt Gazetesi'nin basım aşamasına gelinceye kadar, basının Ülkemizdeki evreleri ve yaşadığı süreçler de ele alınarak yerel basın hayatının temelleri irdelenmiştir. Bahsi geçen yıllar arasında ülke genelinde yaşanan seçimler ve Siirt'ten seçilen milletvekilleri ile bu vekillerin Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi'nde Siirt adına yaptığı faaliyet ve konuşmalara da yer verilmiştir. Cumhuriyetin kurulması ile başlayan yeni yönetim anlayışının Siirt özelindeki yansımaları ve halkın yaşantısı haber başlıkları ve köşe yazıları eşliğinde incelenmiştir. Bu yıllar arasında Siirt'in bir resmi çekilmiştir. Bu bağlamda İlin siyasi kimliği ve vekilleri ile seçim sisteminin değişmesi ile siyasette yaşanan değişim tespit edilmiştir. İlin halkevleri faaliyetleri ve halkevlerinin bu süreçte üstlendiği misyon ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Bunların yanı sıra İlin Çocuk Esirgeme Kurumu faaliyetleri, İlde yaşanan deprem ve verilen tepkiler, elektrik, radyo ve sinemanın şehre gelişi ve gelişimi ile bu konularda yaşanan sıkıntılar, hayvancılık durumu, kaçakçılık ile mücadele faaliyetleri, şehir kadın faaliyetleri, ulaşım, yol ve kaldırım durumu, milli bayram kutlama programları, tarım ve bağcılık, un fabrikası, posta sıkıntısı, temizlik ile ilgili yaşananlar, il genelinde temininde güçlük çekilen mallar, tren meselesi, Siirt battaniyesi ve kuyuları başlıkları altında İl hakkında detaylı bilgi verilmiştir. Bu çalışmada, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden biri olan tarihi doküman analizi tekniği kullanılmıştır. İncelenen konuya ilişkin birinci ve ikinci elden kaynaklar temin edilmiş ve bu dokümanlar analiz edilmiştir. Yapılan incelemeler sonucunda; Siirt İlinin yeni kurulan bir il olması hasebiyle çeşitli sorunlar yaşadığı ve bu sorunları bertaraf etmek üzere kamu-özel işbirliği ile çeşitli faaliyetlerin ve icraatların yapıldığı görülmüştür. Bu vesile ile günümüz Siirt İlinin siyasi, sosyal ve iktisadi manada geldiği noktayı yorumlamak için o günün şartlarının bilinmesi ve incelenmesi bakımından bu çalışma önem arz etmektedir. Until the Siirt Newspaper's priting phase, the stages of the press in our country and the processes it went through were discussed, and the foundations of local press life were examined. The reflections of the new management approach, which started with the establishment of the Republic, in Siirt and the life of the people were examined in the context of news headlines and columns. A picture of Siirt Province was taken between these years. In this context, the change in politics with the change in the political identity and deputies of the province and the election system has been determined. In addition to these, the activities of the Child Protection Agency of the Province, the earthquake and the reactions in the province, the arrival and development of electricity, radio and cinema in the city and the problems experienced in these matters, the situation of animal husbandry, activities to combat smuggling, city womens activities, transportation, road and pavement situation, detailed information about the province was given under the headings of national holiday celebration programs, agriculture and viticulture, flour factory, mail shortage, cleaning, goods that are difficult to obtain thtoughout the province, train issue, Siirt blanket and wels. In this work, qualitative research historical document analysis technique, which is one of the methods, was used. To the subject studies first and second hand sources were analyzed. It was observed that Siirt province has various problems due to the fact that it is a newly established province and various activities and actions are carried out with public-private cooperation to eliminate these problems. On this occasion, this study is important in terms of knowing and examining the conditions of that day in order to interpret the political, social and economic point of todays Siirt province.
